to expand its ADME capabilities! |
MPI Research continues to expand its ADME/PK
testing requirements. The ADME group at MPI
Research conducts a wide range of studies
in support of both Discovery and Development
programs for its Sponsors.
Our capabilities include radiotracer studies,
which are routinely conducted using 14C,
3H, 35S, and 125I. Radiotracer studies with
other isotopes can be conducted upon request.
Formulation of test substances prior to animal
administration is also performed on site.
MPI Research has experience in conducting
studies in rats, mice, rabbits, dogs, micro-pigs,
and monkeys utilizing a variety of dosing
routes. We perform mass balance, excretion,
quantitative tissue distribution, and metabolic
profiling by HPLC with radioactivity/UV detection.
We are qualified to conduct pharmacokinetic
and toxicokinetic studies on site with a
focus on blood/plasma concentrations, bioavailability,
absorption and clearance along with pharmacokinetic
analysis, and report preparation. Enterohepatic
recirculation evaluation studies are conducted
in the rat using a re-infusion model.
Dr. James Laveglia, Executive Vice President
and Director of Research, commented, “The
emerging role of ADME in
optimizing Drug Discovery and Design is critical
to drug development. MPI Research continues
to focus on broadening our ADME capabilities
to provide our sponsors with accurate information
about their compounds. Additionally, MPI
provides the resources to identify which
animal species metabolizes your drug most
closely to humans. Our Director of ADME,
Dr. Mary Sherman, provides years of experience
to this valuable discipline. Finally, a new
state-of-the-art metabolism lab has just
been completed, providing MPI with superior
research facilities for conducting ADME research
for our sponsors.”
MPI Research exists to provide comprehensive
non-clinical research that meets the requirements
of pharmaceutical, animal health and chemical
companies as well as governmental agencies
as we partner together to bring safer, healthier
products to the world. MPI Research employees
specialize in a wide variety of scientific
disciplines including toxicology, pharmacology,
metabolism, pathology, clinical pathology,
reproductive and developmental biology, veterinary
science, neuroscience, analytical chemistry,
computer science, regulatory science, and
statistics.
