Continue with the Acquisition of a
New 2000 square feet Swine Facility! |
Due to the significant business growth in
its Surgical Services department, MPI Research
is announcing the purchase of a large swine
facility to house multiple species of research
and colony animals, from micro and mini up
to farm pigs. Swine have long been the preferred
model for many medical device researchers,
as well as other surgical and dermal toxicology
studies. MPI Research has been a leader in
providing preclinical surgical research,
ranging from orthopedic and spinal models
to vascular stents for the pharmaceutical
and medical device industries. The addition
of the new swine facility documents the unrelenting
commitment of MPI Research to continue to
hold a leadership position with this increasingly
important research species.
The new facility, located near the main MPI
Research facility in Mattawan, MI, is a fully
GLP compliant housing facility with industry
standard Provantis TM electronic data capture
system. With the capacity to house up to
200 animals, this new addition gives MPI
Research the competitive advantage of having
swine readily available to initiate surgical
or medical device studies quickly. Mini and
micro pigs are often in short supply; therefore
MPI Research has regular standing orders
with major suppliers of both. The maintenance
of ready stock colonies is of great benefit
to MPI Research Sponsors, none of whom can
afford to wait for animal availability to
initiate critical preclinical studies.
William Harrison, President and Chief Operating
Officer commented, “This is an important
step for our surgical program. This gives
us the ability to start swine studies faster
than our competitors without tying up valuable
animal rooms at our main facility, allowing
greater response time to our Sponsors. This
is consistent with our previous commitment
to maintain colonies of ready nonhuman primates
and other large animals, allowing MPI Research
to start studies faster than our competitors.
This always has been, and will continue to
be our promise to our customers.”
MPI Research exists to provide comprehensive
non-clinical research that meets the requirements
of pharmaceutical, medical device, animal
health and chemical companies as well as
governmental agencies as we partner together
to bring safer, healthier products to the
world. MPI Research employees specialize
in a wide variety of scientific disciplines
including toxicology, pharmacology, metabolism,
pathology, clinical pathology, reproductive
and developmental biology, veterinary science,
neuroscience, experimental therapeutics,
immunotoxicology, analytical chemistry, computer
science, regulatory science, and statistics.
