| MPI Research Continues
to Grow and Expand to Meet Sponsor
Needs! |
MPI Research constantly strives to grow
and adapt to meet ever-changing sponsor needs.
This effort was prominently illustrated in
2003 by several expansion and renovation
projects at our three facilities. Some of
the most significant examples of construction
projects at the MPI Research Mattawan site
included: 37,000 square feet of additional
animal housing space, a new state-of-the-art
surgical suite, and a complete renovation
and expansion of the Test Material Control
and Pharmacy area, which was completed in
December. Additionally, 15,000 square feet
of new research laboratory space was created
with the new divisions: MPI Analytical, adding
analytical/bioanalytical services, and MPI
CardIon Laboratories, performing in vitro
electrophysiology evaluations for cardiac
safety. Planning is underway for a new administrative
building at the Mattawan facility in 2004,
as well as numerous other projects being
considered based on our sponsor’s request
for new services.
Bill Harrison, President and Chief Operating
Officer, for MPI Research commented, “We
are extremely proud of the trust our sponsors
have placed in MPI Research over the years.
This trust has manifested itself in many
ways, including our high rate of repeat business
and the numerous requests we receive from
sponsors to add animal capacity and new services.
We have answered these requests over the
last year by adding significantly to our
animal housing capability, forming two new
divisions, and purchasing another. Analytical
and bioanalytical services were a critical
addition to our product offerings. In vitro
electrophysiology cardiac evaluations will
soon be a required test to meet the pending
ICH S7B guidance and we are prepared to be
an industry leader in this area, just as
we are now with in vivo safety pharmacology
services. Our purchase of FAST Systems, which
has been a leader in the area of Flow Cytometry
for over 16 years, positions MPI Research
as a preeminent CRO in immunotoxicological
evaluations. All of these additions are integral
components of our efforts to become the best
non-clinical CRO in the industry.”
MPI Research exists to provide comprehensive
non-clinical research that meets the requirements
of pharmaceutical, medical device, animal
health and chemical companies as well as
governmental agencies as we partner together
to bring safer, healthier products to the
world. MPI Research employees specialize
in a wide variety of scientific disciplines
including toxicology, pharmacology, metabolism,
pathology, clinical pathology, reproductive
and developmental biology, veterinary science,
neuroscience, experimental therapeutics,
immunotoxicology, analytical chemistry, computer
science, regulatory science, and statistics.
